Is It Possible To Lose Weight Fast?
I would hazard a guess that anyone who wants to lose weight, would like to do it as quickly as possible. However, there are those that need to know how lose weight fast, for medical reasons perhaps, or in preparation for an event. So is it possible to lose weight quickly?
It is certainly possible to lose some weight quickly. Boxers and Jockeys have to do it all the time because of the weight restrictions of their sports. However, there is a difference between a short term fix as in the case of these sportsmen and women, and long term sustainable weight loss. For the former, a strip to the steam room often does the trick in shedding a few pounds of water.
However if you want to lose weight over the long term, I would have to say that quick weight loss is not sustainable. To lose weight fast implies radical action on the part of the person involved. This would usually involve starvation diets and maybe increased exercise. The problem with starvation type diets is that the human body, clever that it is, adapts to the new intake of food and slows the metabolism down to make better use of the nutrients that it is receiving. This means that the fat burn is reduced too. So, whilst the effect will be to lose weight, you will not lose weight as fast as a crash diet would lead you to believe. Furthermore, cutting your food intake to the minimum gives you the added risk of missing out on some essential nutrients, so your health could actually suffer as a consequence.
The sensible approach is to assess your calorie intake, and work out how much your body and lifestyle actually needs, and alter things accordingly. This could be by reducing your calorie intake by a percentage, or increasing your exercise regime in order to burn off more calories. That way you don't have to take as much pruning action with the food you eat (which is often the hardest thing to do.
