How To Lose Weight Safely As You Burn Fat

The first thing to understand that the rules of weight loss are very simple. It is a calorie deficit that you need, in other words, you want to burn more calories than you eat. A very simple concept to understand.

This is where some of the misconceptions about weight loss start to creep in. And we are talking about safe AND sustainable weight loss here. Which is why crash or starvation diets are usually neither safe nor are they sustainable. Your body needs bulk and your body needs nutrition. To deny it either of these things is likely to give you problems if your persist with them.

A crash diet for example, is likely to generate a defensive mechanism from the body. It suddenly receives much less food than it is used to, so what does it do? It does what any sensible person would do under the same circumstances; it conserves its resources by slowing its metabolism. So, not only to you deny yourself the nutrients that you need, you do not get the level of weight loss that you expect. And is this sustainable? The answer, in all probability, is no. What will happen as soon as you stop crashing (as stop you must)? The body will encourage you to eat more.

The use of supplements or diet pills is very similar. You are denying the body some of the things it needs, so you are hurting it. Not only that, as soon as you stop with the supplements, what will happen? Your eating habits will return, the same as you did before!

The only safe and sustainable weight loss program is one in which your calorie intake is altered, either by a reduction in food or by an increase in exercise. And whilst this will require a lifestyle choice, it is sustainable because a moderate change will produce a long term effect. One that you will be able to continue with because it is moderate and not extreme.
